The Plort Market

Plorts are going to be your primary way to make money in Slime Rancher. To the right of your House is the Plort Market which will display the current going price for all plorts. This resets as midnight every day, and plort prices will fluctuate as time goes on. The more plorts you sell on the Market, the less they will be worth for some time. Therefore, it's best to have a Silo or two (these can be upgraded) and store up your plorts. Once you have a good amount of plorts saved, you will want to wait for a day when they are selling for a good price, and once one comes you'll want to sell them all at once. After selling many of these plorts they will go down ~50% in price, and you will have to wait for them to come back up in price, so it's best to just repeat the cycle and keep storing them.

It's best to keep your slimes well fed and, if possible, feed them their favorite foods. A slime that is fed its favorite food will produce double the plorts, so it's a good idea to grow a variety of fruits and vegetables on your Ranch. You can also turn your slimes into Largos if you wish. This will allow your slimes to produce 2 different kinds of plorts at once.

As the game progresses you'll notice that some plorts are of course more lucrative than others. Slimes such as the Mosaics are easily going to beat out Pink Slimes. However, it doesn't hurt to have a variety of slimes on your Ranch as this will give you more room to collect resources for the Lab. End Game - The Gold Vaults

After finishing the 'Main Story' of the game (refer to Slime Rancher Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (23)The Adventure Continues!), you will have the opportunity to earn a lot of money. After reading Casey's final letter, you will also receive one from Hobson informing you that he has hidden Vaults around the world. There are total of 3 Vaults, each filled with treasure capsules that contain Gold Plorts, the most expensive selling plort in the game.

Before heading to the vaults, however, you will need to make sure you will have to have the Treasure Cracker MKIII upgrade for your Vac. You will be able to unlock this upgrade by fabricating a total of 100 gadgets, and the upgrade itself will cost 25,000 Newbucks. In addition to this upgrade, you will also need a total of 3 Slime Keys in order to unlock all of the vaults.

Once you have these, it's time to head out and find some treasure. The first vault is located on Ring Island, at the location shown below on the map.

The second vault is located on Ash Island, at the location shown below on the map.

The final vault is located in the Feral Path in the Moss Blanket (again, pictured below). This vault is a little different than the others as it contains Gold Slimes in addition to some treasure pods. Make sure you have food ready to shoot at these slimes when you enter.
*IMPORTANT:The Slimes that appear in this vault will only appear the first time you enter. They will never respawn.

  • In the beginning when you're trying to earn money, it's fine to sell Pink Plorts, but once you get farther into the game and unlock the Lab, it's best to put them in the Lab's Refinery as many recipes call for Pink Plorts.

  • If you ever get stuck or want to get back to the farm quickly and don't mind losing your inventory, you can press Slime Rancher Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (27)and select emergency return and you'll be back in no time.

  • WithQuantum Slimes the recommended place to put them is in the overgrowth, the reason for this is because they teleport. Putting them is a secluded area with no/ not many slimes will save you from tarrs.
  • Similar to Quantum Slimes, Tangle Slimes should also be placed in a more secluded area as they can use their vines to snatch plorts, making tarrs a big risk.
  • The way you unlock Nimble Valley is by doing one Ranch Exchange for Mochi. After doing one she'll send you some mail in which will tell you she's unlocked a portal for you in the Grotto.
  • Similar to Mochi's request, completing a request for Ogden will allow you access to Ogden's Retreat/ The Wilds.
  • Two useful gadgets you can build is the Refinery and Market link. You can place them down wherever you are and quickly deposit any plorts you have. This saves a lot of traveling due to being able to get rid of your inventory without going back to the ranch.
  • Teleporters are also quite useful as they will allow you quick access to nearly any place of your choosing. Some useful areas to place teleporters include The Moss Blanket, The Ancient Ruins, or the Glass Desert.
  • Don't be afraid to use your Ranch space for gardens. It's good to have a variety of fruits and vegetables on the Ranch in order to accommodate all your slimes.
  • Make sure to always upgrade your buildings on the Ranch. (Ie: Corrals, gardens, etc.) The benefits are always worth the money.
